" No aquarium, no tank in a marine land, however spacious it may be, can begin to duplicate the conditions of the sea. No dolphins or marine mammals who inhabits one of those aquariums or one of those marine lands parks can be considered normal."
Jacques Yves Cousteau.

Now, here is  a quote from me:
Remember this: Every time you encourage a marine park by buying a ticket to see the marine mammals captive there, or on a vacation in a resort with a swim with captive dolphins, you are contributing to their captures and helping keeping them prisoners! It is as simple as that! And yes there is still capture!

If you do not like my quote,  before posting an uneducated comment on my journal entry, do yourself a favour and please go on Google search and type: Where do captive dolphins come from.
When the first page will  open, click on Dolphins FAQ. You will be on the WSPA org web page, an organisation dedicated to the well-fare of all animals. Please click on  all the questions and read all the answers. So, the next time you decide to visit a marine park that is exhibiting marine mammals  or decide to become a paying customer at swim-with -the-dolphin dolphins program for human entertainment... you will know exactly what your decision making and your choice of spending your money is contributing to do!

Every choice you make influence the whole world around you, and demand for people to see marine mammals in captivity create the need for prisoners to be kept in a tank or confinement  1% the size of their natural habitat. So think about that the next time you are clapping your hands to a showing of their unnatural behaviours!  That's your choice!

FOR MYSELF AND THE PURPOSE OF MY ART, THIS IS WHAT I DECIDED TO DO FROM NOW ON:
My choice and my way of standing up for the awareness of marine mammals in captivity is  to block from my profile page all deviants  whom are taking pictures in marine parks & zoos and GROUPS whom are  proudly displaying them, from favouring my art or adding me to their deviants watch list.

I cannot accept to have my work mix up with peoples encouraging the captivity of animals that should be living in freedom in the ocean, where they belong, not in a fish bowl or cages!
All others DEVIANTS ARTISTS can help also by not encouraging pictures of these beautiful creatures, kept as prisoners...
The best way to commune with dolphins or other marine mammals is from the deck of a whale watch operation that follows a responsible code of conductor, better yet, from shore, where you can be sure that you're not harming them.
Now this is my choice ; what's your choice going to be?

Wonderful quote, this was beautifully journal written as well! :) So full of compassion and awareness! It was people like you, that spoke about the horrors of captivity and without a hateful attitude toward ignornance. That opened my eyes to how terrible captivity really is. I never really thought about it as a child and young adult, until I recently reserched captivity,(after seeing awareness art on deviant art from people like AnoOrca) and the number of premature deaths, speak for it's self.

It's wonderful that you are doing art to show people, how the wild really is a place for these animals! :) Keep up the great journals and beautiful art! You never know who it will impact

Actually at SeaWorld the "shamu" s tails begin to curve up from being in captivity. I really don't like SeaWorld's keepings of animals. But sometimes aquariums have to keep wildlife because they were injured and couldn't be realeased. But yes, if they just catch for the entertainment of people and thier money then thats wrong. Like in japan how they herd dolphins into a cove where they are killed. I absolutly love marine life and I hate to see them, caught up in nets, or killed for the show. Most of the time, thats how they die, nets. And if they survive then they have to be in those closed aquariums. Swimmng in circles.

You understood the message, there is a big difference between exploitation and rescue. All the marine parks exploit the animals to make money and peoples have to stop encouraging these places or it's never going to stop and animals will always suffer.

Hopefully. And yes, especially SeaWorld. Also Atlantis I think, where you can swim with dolphins. And I wish there could be some way to just make people get it into thier heads.

I am not sure if you are aware, but Georgia Aquarium will plan to receive 18 Beluga whales imported from Russia. These Beluga whales have already been captured from the open sea and are in training so that they can live their lives in pure enslavement. I believe the 18 whales will be 'distributed' to some of the captive facilities - including SeaWorld - instead of all 18 at the Georgia Aquarium.

I would like people to be aware that our country - the USA - still imports captured cetaceans so as to expand the captive cetacean population!

Dear Laurice, first of all I have to tell you that I got you close to my heart because you care for the animals and like me you are against keeping them in captivity. Second I have to tell you that my country Canada, is not better for the mistreatment of marine mammals. If you have the chance today, check out the newspaper Toronto Star on first page and it is on CBC news also. There is an article on Marineland Park about previous employee telling about the poor conditions animals are kept in. There is no regulations in provinces in Canada, except in British Columbia for closely monitoring these parks. This is unbelievable also that peoples are still thinking that all the animals in these parks are raise in captivity.
I am thankful to you for letting me know about the belugas in Russia, I did not know, it is criminal!
I am also starting to let know some of the deviants that are going to take pictures in marine parks, that my art is not welcome in their favourites or not to put me on their deviant watch, because I am against pictures taken from animal prisoners. So I am blocking them as a result. This is my way of standing up for them.
I will see what I can do with the informations you gave me about Russia with the WSPA organisation or even Green peace, and please let me know what I can do to help if you are finding a way to make some awareness about this issue.
Take care in the mean time,
Sincerely, Jacynthe ( JAJAwhales )

I am glad that we both have shared interest in cetacean welfare, and it is so good to share how much we care about cetaceans and other sea life and how much we would like for them to do well in their lives - especially in the wild.

Yes, I am so very aware of Marineland and what's going on at that facility. At least eight ex-employees have come forward to share their horrific experiences, and there was a protest held in front of the facility last weekend. One individual that I know from Facebook took part in the protest and reported the great turnout. I posted videos, photos, and links about Marineland and the protest in my AACC group on Facebook. I do hope that the marine mammals that live at the facility will be taken somewhere else where they'd receive better care and that Marineland will eventually shut down!

I can understand how much you're against marine mammal captivity, and I am the exact same. It truly bothers me that cetaceans are being abused and exploited at captive facilities for the sake of public entertainment. Cetaceans do so much more in their home waters than at captive facilities since living in freedom truly brings out a lot of things in cetaceans. Everything that cetaceans do in the wild is so natural. So are their behaviors.

I do thank you for taking the time to get in touch with me about our shared interest!

Sorry to intrude in your conversation. I am just really interested in this topic. I have never been to Sea World and never plan to. They take poor whales and dolphins just for human entertainment. Imagine if you found yourself trapped in a net with strangers surrounding you. They took you to a strange place and made you do strange tricks. I know I would be scared. I can't believe they now are accepting Belugas shipped in fro Russia for one of their stupid marine shows. i just want to let you know you are very insparational and I am glad you stand up for the whales.

Thank you and you can also stand up for their protection. As artist, our work can raise awareness and we can spread the message to stop encouraging those marine parks. By purchasing a ticket , peoples become the reason why those poor animals get trapped in these little fish bowl, because this is exactly the size of it ( 1% the size of their natural habitat ). You can make a difference by telling your friends, family or anyone that would like to go to a marine park or a zoo.
Demand create a product, and the product is prisoners kept in terrible places, that is totally unnatural for them.
Help me make the peoples around aware, and thank you for your support

I absolutely agree! My heart truly breaks for all the Killer whales, dolphins, and porpoises that are permanently locked up at captive facilities! I deeply hurt for each and every one of them since they engage in permanent enslavement for the sake of public entertainment. Their trained behaviors are not normal by any means!

Thank you for your comment, I find it heart breaking too, mostly because peoples do not understand that by encouraging and buying tickets for those marine parks whom are displaying marine mammals for entertainment, it does mean that they are encouraging capture of these animals. There is so many other way to observe them without keeping them prisoners...
